So after two weeks of shopping parts for a mid-range pc gaming build on a tight budget, I stumbled upon a hard to find yet hard to beat Thanksgiving sale from Edge, a Calgary based online store I had never heard of...
Their Silver Series-AMD offered all the choices of parts and specs I was looking for, clearly listed, already assembled and tuned, for... a 1/3 than anything similar in a local shop or even in big retailers!? It looked too good to be true!
I really wasn't so sure about buying a pre-built desktop on the internet, even less having it delivered from a couple provinces away, but boy am I happy I had faith and went with it!
Everything was safely packed and quickly shipped for free ; not a scratch, nothing loose. Also, no cheaping out on parts ; it's pretty much all quality, branded, stable, solid build, as advertised. All in all, it was even way cheaper than building it myself, without all of the hassle of multiple deliveries, and the gamble of the silicon lottery.
Since my custom order was a maybe less common ''old-gamer-on-a-budget build'' (downgraded gpu, upgraded memory), a trivial mismatch on the cpu model probably happened while swapping parts between Bronze and Silver series, but it gave me the chance to meet Alex (the owner?), who was more than accommodating. Super nice guy : he called me to apologize as soon as he got my email, opened to all solutions. He fixed everything to my liking, and was happy to send the model I wanted. Again, all free of charge, fast shipping, and with quality thermal paste. He even offered to pay for the swap if I wasn't comfortable with it... I ended up inviting him to Montreal! ^^
